Swimmers
Watching her children’s involvement in sports had a profound impact on the body of paintings that Eisner created throughout the 1980’s and 90’s. As Eisner attended countless athletic events, she set out to capture this fluidity and action in her painting. Eisner also returned to the sketchbooks she had created for Youth Guild Liz Claiborne, John Weitz, and Jonathan Logan. The lithe, fluid forms in her sketchpads made a comeback in her paintings, but instead of serving as mannequins, they were leaping, swimming, and dancing across the canvas. Colors as vibrant as she had always favored now joined grays, violets, reds and greens that were brushed, blended, and tossed to imitate the energy of dancers and swimmers.
